BongoLinux, keltik this!

From now on this blog becomes part of the sources of BongoLinux , a news aggregator that revolve around the world of 'open source and GNU / Linux in particular. Among others, I think I saw one of the sources also 'friend Spippolo .

A 'cute idea and that may prove tasty to us bloggers is the BongoRoll , a javascript that dynamically generates a blogroll starting from the feeds aggregated from BongoLinux and allows, among other things, the publication on their own blog of links that can be attractive for visitors and the greater visibility of your blog on the home pages of other bloggers affiliates.

All this - of course - in the spirit of open!

Iron Maiden on sale with Panorama ... legendary!

I never would have believed possible, but Panorama from today will distribute the entire discography of the great Iron Maiden, starting from 'Epic debut of "Iron Maiden" and the dazzling sequel to "The NUMBER Of The Beast".

I think I will not miss the 'chance to get on CD discs that have marked (lol) in my teens and I have instilled a passion for the electric bass.

Send emails with attachments from command line

These days I have addressed the topic at 'sending files via attachments to e-scripts (I needed a fast system to replicate backup archives).

The program I chose is mime-construct, which allows you to encode the file to attach to 'the same email and sending mail to the recipient.

More linear in its syntax mime-construct can be used in this way: 

$ mime-construct --to email@dominio.qualcosa --subject soggetto_dell_email --file-attach /percorso/del/file

Questa sintassi prevede che il soggetto sia composto da un’ unica stringa e che il nome dell’allegato venga fatto corrispondere al nome del file.

Per tutte le possibili opzioni, più che alla pagina di manuale, vi consiglio di usare l’ opzioni –help del programma.

Dell PowerEdge T105 arrivato!

Dell PowerEdge T105 Il nuovo serverino è arrivato giusto ora, consegnato dal sempre impeccabile servizio UPS.

Giusto il tempo di una rapida controllata, foto di rito e di nuovo nell’ imballo: questa sera, Ubuntu alla mano, parto con l’ installazione.

Tra le altre cose ho letto qui e là di problemi nel rilevamente dell’ interfaccia di rete, una Broadcom Nextreme 5722 Gigabit, il cui supporto dovrebbe però essere integrato nei kernel recenti della serie 2.6.x.

Ad ogni modo, o per chi volesse installare Debian, il sito di Dell propone un CDROM di installazione di Debian (D-I) customizzato e contenente i drivers necessari integrati nel kernel.

Il sito con le immagini custom del D-I Debian Installer è, invece, http://kmuto.jp/debian/d-i/ , che contiene immagini di installazione con backports vari, firmwares aggiuntivi, wpa_supplicant, e1000e driver sperimentale. Le immagini dell’ installer sono sia di Etch che di Sarge e le architetture supportate sono x86 e AMD64!
