Apocalypto is the 'latest work behind the camera by Mel Gibson, in my opinion one of the most overrated players of all time. Subject only to the first, unforgettable and visionary "Mad Max".
Apocalypto is a film conceived, written, directed, produced and advertised along the lines of pompatissimo "The Passion of the Christ." The story tells the personal story of Jaguar Paw, a hunter of the South American rainforest to grips with the overwhelming military power of the 'Mayan empire.
The 'beginning of the film is very impressive, powerful and poetic if you want even if we suspend our critical faculties and leave taken in the usual hackneyed story of the "noble savage" of roussoniana memory.
The rest of the film is a continuous and preposterous journey in search of any excuse to insert sequences splatter, but where in the "Passion" the crudeness of the visual narrative choice could make sense here is total free. The hackneyed script, without a single bounce (after 20mins you already understand where it will go the movie), the characters without thickness, etc. ...
The flaws are historical addiritura annoying, if my memory tricked me. The whole ceremony of sacrifice, the possibility of escape offered to the captured men seem more related to culture than to the Mayan Aztec.
Beyond technical solutions of interest (the steady-cam, chase in the forest echoing those on the streets of Frisco), the result for me is that of a film-flavored porn, in which violence and its effects more materials have the pre-eminence over the rest.
Spectacular costumes, soundtrack and music. Excellent actors almost all amateur or semi-professionals. Vivid photography, which alternates with other very bright scenes documentary flavor.
In conclusion it is a well made film, but with nothing to say. Violence and more violence, which consolidates the 'equation' faux-scandal / hype / business. "

yesterday but I've seen "very good year." I liked it very much is, I'd never seen Russell Crowe cynical thing ¬
mmhhhh ... I like Russell Crowe, especially in the legendary "Gladiator" and "A Beautiful Mind." then recommend to your friend Keltika?

Seen both "Gladiator" that "Beautiful Mind". You recommend it, is a film friendly, passionate, is not at all a bad movie, obviously to do with your girlfriend
Do not I respect him. Do not want to be dragged to see his film.
@ Baker: Thanks for the tip!
@ ABS, but you talk about Crowe? I even as an actor I think is a top, but in films such as I mentioned is defended with honor. and besides of the "Gladiator" bewitches me always the voice of Lisa Gerrard!

No, Mel spoke of national, indeed.
Crowe does not seem bad as an actor ...
Well, with the doors wide open Gerrard wallpapers with me!
